Chosen Persons is a collaborative remix album by Caer Sgàil and Petridisch (aka Thor Maillet), released in 2025 through Fish Prints. The album takes my EP It’s The People We Choose and reworks it into a full-length interpretation shaped by Petridisch’s own approach and influences.

The artwork was built entirely from personal photos taken in my home, most notably the astronaut lamp that became the centrepiece of the cover. Before settling on that, there were a few earlier concepts that we both agreed didn’t work. A lot of the initial photos came from this little Chinese e-waste camera I’d picked up in a charity shop, one of those cheap things you’d usually find on Temu or Shein. The quality was awful, but it had a certain aesthetic. One of the photos I’d snapped was a close-up of the astronaut lamp my mum had recently bought for the hall. I hadn’t thought much of it at the time, but when I showed Petridisch the batch of photos, he was immediately drawn to that one.

Once we realised the lamp was the strongest direction, I took better photos of it on my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, which came out much cleaner. With that final photo in place, I got to work adjusting the colours and making all the necessary edits to bring it into the look we wanted. I then added the familiar It’s The People We Choose font, IM Fell DW Pica, and italicised it to give the cover a “same but not the same” feeling, connected to the original EP, but not outright gluing it to it.

I also created an art booklet of my photography for the elasticStage CD release. All photography was done by me, and I handled the full art direction.

For the back cover, Petridisch sent me a photo of the Boston skyline taken from his backyard. He originally sent it just as a casual shot of the view, but I liked the subtlety of it as a back cover image. Once he sent it over properly, I edited it, made the adjustments needed, and everything fell into place.

There wasn’t originally any plan to release a single from Chosen Persons, but the idea had been mentioned here and there. The photo that eventually became the cover was taken earlier in Glasgow during the filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where a crowd had gathered behind a white barrier the studio put up to block the view. I liked the moment and snapped a picture, not thinking it would ever be used for anything.

Some time later, when I was bored one day, I decided to play around with that photo and make some mock single art. I edited the colours to make it stand out and just pop a lot more and added text, just experimenting for fun with no real intention behind it. When I eventually showed it to Petridisch, he really liked it and decided it should become the artwork for an actual release.

That led to It’s The People We Choose (A Walk Through Mix) coming out on October 3rd, 2025, alongside the music video he created independently. The single also included two extra B-side remixes of “It’s The People We Choose” and “Someone I Once Knew,” which were similar to the final versions but still distinct.

The release was exclusive to Ampwall.
