MacNeil Sketchley requested artwork for his album No Instruments Were Tuned in the Making of This Album, which is set to be released on Rakū Records sometime in 2026. He asked for something that would “tell the listener that it’s going to be out of tune and microtonal, something alien and noisy maybe.” Taking this direction, an alien was drawn in a sketchbook inside a small UFO giving a peace sign. The album title and Sketchley’s name were written by hand to create a personal, homemade CD feel, and the drawings were scanned for use on the cover.

Stars were added to the background along with subtle, trippy circular patterns, and Jupiter was included as an additional visual element. Sketchley was very happy with the final artwork and chose to use it for the release.
